Men face court after Border Force investigation into importation of child-like sex dolls

Two Geraldton men in their 60’s have appeared in court this week after they were allegedly caught attempting to import child-like sex dolls. A Border Force spokesperson said the two cases were not believed to be linked, but packages addressed to the two men from Hong Kong had been intercepted in Perth. “Both parcels were described as containing a ‘mannequin’, but when ABF officers examined the contents they allegedly found a silicon child-like sex doll in each,” the spokesperson said. A 65-year-old man was arrested by Border Force investigators at his Geraldton home on Monday and charged with one count of importing prohibited tier two goods. At the man’s house investigators allegedly seized electronic communication devices, sex doll accessories and parts belonging to an imported infant-sized sex doll. He appeared in the Geraldton Magistrates Court later that day where he was granted conditional bail. The following morning a 61-year-old man was arrested and charged with the same offence after allegedly attempting to import a doll on September 21. A raid on his Beresford home also allegedly uncovered a category one image depicting child exploitation and a small quantity of cannabis. He appeared in court on Tuesday afternoon, with bail unopposed by the Commonwealth prosecutor if he was placed on strict conditions. He was bailed on a $5000 personal undertaking, ordered to comply with all requests to access electronic devices, report twice weekly to Geraldton Police Station and have no unsupervised contact with any children under 16. Australian Border Force Investigations Acting Commander Nicholas Walker said tackling child abuse material was an operational priority for the force. “Officers have the skills and technology to detect items like these,” he said. “And they are equally committed to investigating and prosecuting those who seek to import this deplorable material, which has no place in our community.” Both men will reappear in Geraldton Magistrates Court on November 19.
