After the excitement of the Gold Cup, the Geraldton Turf Club held its final mid-week meeting of the season on Wednesday.

The first race saw Ascot horse Sonic Ruler bring home the win, paying $11 before the jump.

Jockey Natasha Faithfull enjoyed two wins on the day, picking up a race-two victory on Mystery Bullet and a race-four win on Defending.

The third race followed the script as the three betting favourites took the top three spots, with Make Mine Super claiming a narrow winning over The Chief Justice, and Pure Dynamite rounding out the top three.

Race five had the favourite take home the win again, with Identifier tipped to run well and claiming victory with Troy Turner aboard.

In race six, Traded Crown made a great start, with Sly As A Fox and Call Me Violet following closely behind.

The favourite, Bayhara, found herself at the back of the pack, seven lengths behind Egg White, who had jumped to first place.

With 150m left to go, Bayhara picked up pace and made good ground to charge up to Traded Crown, getting a head in front to win the race by half a length.

The favourites took a back seat in the final race, with the $8.50 Hammarmill winning by a length over Denzoe and Well Played. The trifecta paid $1707.40.

The next meeting at the Geraldton Turf Club will be on Saturday, April 27 — the penultimate meeting of the season.
