Students from Fremantle College travelled to the Mid West to participate in workshops with local schools and battle it out on stage on Thursday.

Fremantle College ran music workshops at two schools and performed for students before rocking out at the Port Town Throwdown: Battle of the Bands collaboration.

Student bands from Fremantle College, Geraldton Senior High School, Champion Bay Senior High School and Geraldton Junior battled it out using Fremantle College’s ‘Solar Stage’.

Bands ranged from rock, pop, alternative rock and indie to rhythm and blues.

Geraldton Senior High School principal Emma Walker said the event was a fantastic way to show the similarities between country and city students.

“We need to offer more events like these,” she said.

The night finished off with a teachers’ finale, singing AC/DC’s It’s a Long Way to the Top.
