Mid West talent do little to help Eagles’ scoring woes while Logan McDonald takes back seat in Swans win

With West Coast desperately needing help up forward, scoring efforts from Jamie Cripps were not enough in their loss to the Greater Western Sydney Giants. The Northampton product was seen all over the field with a high-intensity game, hitting the scoreboard late with one goal and two behinds, but it did little to help the Eagles in a 65-point loss. The forward notched 14 disposals, took six marks and made four tackles along with being the equal top scorer for the side, but missed opportunities to build up the Eagles score. Tyler Brockman also wasted opportunities having a set shot for a behind, but looked more comfortable in his second game for West Coast with five tackles and 12 disposals. Following on from his monster performance in round one, former Coorow-Latham forward Logan McDonald played his role in Sydney’s massive win over Essendon. It was a team effort for Sydney with no single player dominating the scoreboard. McDonald notched one goal and one behind to go with his 10 disposals, five marks and one tackle. McDonald’s goal came at the start of the third when it was still a tight contest, helping the Swans extend their lead. Second-year defender, Geraldton’s Judd McVee, continues to be a pillar of consistency as he notched 20 disposals for a third straight game, along with taking three marks and laying one tackle in Melbourne’s thumping win over Hawthorn. The rising star nominee from last year might see his role expanded in coming weeks as the Demons suffered injuries to its two key defenders, Steven May and Jake Lever, during the win. At Marvel Stadium, Dongara’s Jaeger O’Meara made his season debut for Fremantle during their come-from-behind win over North Melbourne. The 12th-year player has been managed after being a late withdrawal in round one. O’Meara was the sub and entered the game at the start of the last quarter, replacing Nat Fyfe. Not long after entering the game, O’Meara was forced off the ground with the blood rule, but in his limited time on ground the second-year Docker had four disposals, one tackle and kicked a behind.
