Mid West Ports Authority is responding to what it describes as a “minor oil spill” inside the Geraldton Harbour this morning.

A spokeswoman said the oil had been contained and an initial assessment of the source of the spill was still underway.

“The Department of Transport and other relevant authorities have been notified and are assisting in the response,” she said.

“MWPA has established an Incident Management Team and is undertaking initial response operations.”

The spokeswoman would not release any further detail, but said MWPA would continue to provide updates on the assessment once further details were confirmed.
