Missing Geraldton man Brenton Shar’s family pleads for information regarding his whereabouts two months on

The family of missing man Brenton Shar have made a heartfelt plea to the public for any information which could help police in finding the 37-year-old two months on from his last sighting. Mr Shar went missing in early May. He was last seen at his address in Rangeway on May 2, but was not reported missing until May 10. His mother, Vivian Shar, described her son as a kind man who loved animals, would talk to anyone and was always willing to help. Sitting in the Geraldton Police Station on Friday, Ms Shar said the family just wanted to know her son was safe. “Come home Brenton, we miss you. We just want to know you’re safe,” she said, holding back tears. Ms Shar said family and friends had taken the search into their own hands, visiting locations he frequented, putting up flyers and knocking on doors to see if people knew her son’s whereabouts. The heartbroken mother said the family was yet to find out any additional information about their son’s whereabouts. Ms Shar said police had been monitoring his bank accounts regularly and had not seen any activity. “The last time I saw him was in Cue for a relative’s funeral,” she said. A search effort was launched in May, with Mr Shar’s partner, Kasey Burns, finding a pair of shorts believed to belong to him at Midalia Beach near the groyne. Detective Sergeant Gareth Lewis said in May that the black Champion shorts matched the pair worn by Mr Shar as he left hospital for an injured finger on May 1. The last available CCTV footage, which included Mr Shar was in Geraldton on the same day. DNA tests later confirmed the shorts belonged to Mr Shar. Det. Sgt Lewis said there was “no evidence of criminality” in Mr Shar’s case.
