More COVID-19 virus precautions for Geraldton.

Geraldton Aquarena will close at noon today.

A City of Greater Geraldton spokeswoman said user groups of the Aquarena would be contacted directly and were asked to help communicate this latest restriction to their members.

It was one of several community facilities the City of Greater Geraldton is closing to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

Others were the Foreshore Waterpark, Geraldton Regional Art Gallery, Geraldton Visitor Centre and Mullewa Youth Centre.

The spokeswoman woman said all face-to-face community engagement programs had been cancelled.

“Community members are advised changes to facilities and programming will be reviewed in three months,” she said.

The Civic Centre and Mullewa District Office will remain open as normal.

The Geraldton Airport also remains open and passengers are advised to contact airlines in regards to flight changes.

The spokeswoman said community members were encouraged to contact the City via phone on 9956 6600 or email council@cgg.wa.gov.au where possible during this period.

“If visitation to a City facility is necessary, please exercise social distancing,” she said.

“Ongoing announcements regarding City programs, shows and events will be released on the City’s website and social media platforms.

“The Department of Health are the lead agency for the COVID-19 situation and people are advised to visit their website as a true and accurate source of information.”
