More rain expected in Geraldton this week
This morning was grey, cold and damp in Geraldton following the heaviest overnight rainfall this month.
There was 10mm of rain recorded overnight in the gauge at Bureau of Meteorology’s base at Geraldton Airport with little expected for the rest of the day.
BOM duty forecaster Luke Huntington said, so far the July total was at 12.2mm — a fair bit short of the historical average of 89mm.
“Given we’re halfway through the month the total rainfall is really coming up short,” he said.
“But we’ve got some good news coming later in the week with a cold front moving through the region which is expected to lead to heavy falls in the Central West.”
“There could be widespread falls of 20 to 40mm across the Agricultural region on Thursday.”
