Mullewa Agricultural Show the biggest yet with live entertainment, free activities, fireworks, prizes & more

The Mullewa Agricultural Show is around the corner, and after the Mid West’s big downpour, the town is excited to spend this coming Saturday in the sunshine for its biggest day of the year. Organiser Julie Freeman said this year the show was bigger than ever with a great committee of volunteers, live entertainment, fireworks, agricultural competitions and free entertainment for all. “Monster trucks will be coming back . . . we will be doing a lot of jumps and stunts in the rodeo arena and big red, which is a big fire engine monster truck, will be giving rides around the showground,” she said. The City of Greater Geraldton has funded the Radrock climbing wall and high rope course, which is free for children all day. Ms Freeman said the Bubbly’s Bubble Party show would keep children and parents entertained. “We are very fortunate to have received some great grant funding, and that’s allowed us to put on some really great free entertainment for the community and visitors,” she said. Organisers are expecting around 2000 people to swarm through the gate, and Ms Freeman said as well as the main attractions, there were all the usual favourites as well. The Mullewa quick shear will have some of the district’s best shearers competing for a total prize pool of $4465. A foot race will attract athletes from Perth who will compete for a prize pool of $7500. “We’ve had some runners in the past who have gone on to represent Australia in the Olympics,” Ms Freeman said. “You never know which rising star you might find at the Mullewa Show.” Show gates open at 7.30am at the Mullewa Recreation Grounds. Guests can browse the pavilions for the first hour before they shut, while judging begins at 9am. The main gates open to the public at 9.30am, making the show’s market stalls, sideshow alley, rock climbing wall and high ropes course available. Judging will finish at lunchtime and the pavilion will re-open to the public. Competitions include cookery, crafts, flowers, fruit and veg, grain, sheep, wool and poultry. “You name it, we’ve got it at the show,” Ms Freeman said. Tickets are $15 for adults, and children get in for free. Organisers remind guests to bring cash for quicker transactions.
