Mum and daughters Vanessa Minissale and Ava and Miley Gould proud to be part of Towns’ first GNWFL flag

The Bulldogs of Towns Football Club made history at the weekend when they won their first Great Northern Women’s Football League premiership. But there was arguably another historic moment within the Towns’ grand final fairytale — Vanessa Minissale and her daughters, Ava and Miley Gould, were part of the premiership-winning team. They are a trio united by their passion for sports, and the play together across soccer, football and softball — winning medals and trophies along the way, while defying the generation gap. On Saturday, they achieved another unforgettable milestone by helping Towns to their maiden premiership when they beat Chapman Valley by 34 points in the decider. “One of the greatest achievements is being able to play football with my daughters. To win a premiership with them and make Towns history is the ultimate—it’s something a lot of people can never say they’ve done,” Minissale said. For Ava Gould winning the grand final alongside her mother and 16-year-old sister was a moment of personal and familial pride. “Winning a premiership on your own is something special, but winning it with your little sister and mum takes it to a whole new level,” the 18-year-old said. “Becoming part of the club’s history with my family is something that will stay with us forever.” Miley Gould was equally thrilled. “Winning the grand final was a dream come true, but the real victory was sharing that moment with my big sister and mum, who have always been my biggest supporters and teammates on and off the field,” she said. For Miley, playing sports alongside her family has always been about more than just competition — it’s about the camaraderie, encouragement, and shared joy of pursuing their goals together.
