NBL1 West champion Zac Gattorna re-signs with the Sydney Kings after one year with Geraldton Buccaneers

Geraldton Buccaneer and NBL1 West champion Zac Gattorna has re-signed with the NBL’s Sydney Kings after his successful season with the Buccs. Gattorna had previously spent time on the Kings development squad and was part of the team’s 2022 championship team before coming to Geraldton for the off-season. During his time with the Buccs, Gattorna led the team in points per game, averaging 18.6 points and 5.2 rebounds, and helped the team win the NBL1 West championship, putting up 13 points, three rebounds and two assists in the final game. The NBL1 National Tournament is where Gattorna turned it on, averaging 25 points and 11 rebounds over the two-game stretch. After signing with the Kings, Gattorna said his time with the Buccs had set him up for success going forward. “It was a massive benefit being able to go play and have freedom for the off-season with the Buccs — allowing me to work on areas I wouldn’t usually get as much of a chance to at the next level,” he said. “Especially compared to last season, coming into pre-season with an injury — it’s just exciting being at full health and hitting the floor running.”
