Two unisex changing rooms that feature secure lockers and a new dedicated space for beach wheelchairs is now available for use at Geraldton foreshore.

Located next to the Rubik’s Cube toilets, the newest facilities are decorated with vibrant artwork inspired by Geraldton’s coastal lifestyle, created by artist Sally Ridge.

Jennie Haste petitioned for these change rooms. She gathered more than 112 signatures of community members requesting the council’s consideration to construct a change room facility in Champion Bay, in April 2023.

City of Greater Geraldton mayor Jerry Clune had previously said it was essential to have facilities that added to the user experience and complemented the space.

“It’s great to see a practical, cost-effective solution being delivered that will benefit ocean swimmers, families, visitors and local businesses alike,” he said.

The project was originally scheduled to finish in April but is now complete.
