Nexus assures Mid West passengers that Geraldton flights will be unaffected amid suspension of northern routes

WA regional airline Nexus has assured Mid West residents there will be no changes or disruptions to Geraldton flights amid the suspension of its “financially unstable” northern routes. Nexus flights between Broome, Kununurra, and Darwin will be suspended from Monday, September 1, due to commercial challenges, low sales, and unused capacity. Nexus managing director Michael McConachy confirmed in a statement on Monday that there would be no changes to any other services — including Geraldton. “All other Nexus routes including services between Perth and Geraldton, and between Geraldton-Karratha-Port Hedland-Broome continue to perform well and will remain unaffected by this network change,” he said. “This decision affects only the Broome–Kununurra–Darwin route and does not impact any other scheduled or charter services.” In the 2024-25 financial year, just under 54,000 passengers flew in and out of Geraldton on the airline. Mr McConachy said the suspension of under-performing flights would allow the company to expand its services across WA, the Northern Territory and beyond.
