No leads for detectives into Beresford Foreshore indecent assaults, but police urge for vigilance

Geraldton Detectives say they have no leads at present, but will follow all lines of inquiry in a bid to track down the man responsible for a series of alleged attacks on women walking along the Beresford Foreshore. Police have also issued a reminder to the community to check their CCTV and dashcam footage to assist them in finding the culprit, and for people to remain vigilant in the area. Detective Sen. Const. Gareth Lewis confirmed no further incidents had been reported since the four latest indecent assaults. “We request the community remain vigilant but not alarmed,” he said. Four separate reports have been made to police that in June and July women were approached by a man on a bike along the Chapman Road foreshore and touched indecently before he fled. Detectives believe the same person is responsible for all four incidents. Police do not have any leads but the investigation is ongoing. The description of the wanted person is a man aged 18-25, with a dark complexion riding a dark-coloured bicycle. The first incident happened on June 11 at 3.30pm on Chapman Road near Kempton Street. This case was not reported to police until the next month following other reports being made public. The second attack occurred on July 12 at 4pm on Beresford Foreshore near Dean Street where a woman was allegedly groped. Det-Sgt Simon Harrison said a 27-year-old woman was approached by a man on a bicycle and groped in two places. The man attempted to kiss her before she pushed him off and he rode away. Another two separate incidents occurred on the same day, July 15, along the Beresford Foreshore; one about 3.45pm between Trigg Street and Adam Street and another at 4.15pm near Mark Street.
