Nominate Geraldton's most dedicated volunteers for State Government Volunteer Week awards

Do you know a local volunteer who puts themselves last, never taking recognition for their hard work and dedication? The time has come to nominate them for International Volunteer Day. To celebrate International Volunteer Day, the Cook Government is calling for nominations to recognise volunteers across WA for their years of service. International Volunteer Day is celebrated across the world annually on December 5, known as Thank a Volunteer Day in Western Australia. The WA Volunteer Service Awards aim to acknowledge volunteers for their contributions in making our communities better places. Last month, the State Government announced the expansion of the awards program to recognise and celebrate more volunteers. Nominations for the WA Volunteer Service Awards can now be made in the following years of service categories: five to nine years, 10-19 years, 20-29 years, 30-39 years; 40-49 years, 50-59 years and a Lifetime of voluntary service category which celebrates 60 years and over. Minister for Volunteering Don Punch said: “I strongly encourage people to nominate someone they know or to nominate themselves for the WA Volunteer Service Awards so that their outstanding efforts can be recognised and celebrated.” To date, 2331 West Australian volunteers have been honoured through the awards program. The awards will be presented during National Volunteer Week, May 20-26, 2024. Nominations are open until 5pm on Thursday, February 29 next year.
