Northampton colts pull off nail-biting win against Brigades to secure spot in grand final

Northampton are off to the grand after pulling off a three-point victory over Brigades in the Great Northern Football League’s colts on the weekend. The game started out in the Rams’ favour, with the team kicking the first two goals and keeping the Hawks scoreless in the first quarter. A slow second quarter from the Northampton side allowed the Brigades to come back and make it just a one-point game heading into the half, with the Hawks keeping their momentum in the third to go up by five heading into the final term. After multiple forward entries that failed to pay off for the Rams, Samuel Lawson booted a goal eight minutes into the quarter to give his team a three-point lead. With time ticking away, the ball ended up in front of the Hawks’ goal line but they couldn’t get it through before the siren went and the Rams got the 4.6 (30) to 4.3 (27) win. They will now go on to face the top side Mullewa colts in the grand final.
