Northampton export Brynn Teakle named in 26-man WAFL squad to play in State game

Northampton product and mid-season draft hopeful Brynn Teakle has been selected in the WAFL State team that will face the SANFL side. The ruckman re-joined East Fremantle before the season after spending time with Port Adelaide and pre-season with Collingwood. Since coming back, Teakle has dominated in a side that won the premiership last year and has been selected in the State squad. In six games this season for the Sharks, he has averaged 16.3 disposals, 3.7 marks, three tackles, 36.5 hit-outs per game and kicked five goals. The WAFL 26-man State team will play the SANFL side at Optus Stadium on Sunday, with the top talent from Western and South Australia going head-to-head. Teakle, 25, was selected with pick No.8 in the 2022 mid-season draft by Port Adelaide, playing six games but was hampered by injuries including a broken collarbone. He isn’t the only Mid West talent who has been catching eyes, with Sharks teammate Jed Hagan also in the mix for the draft. Hagan spent time on Port Adelaide’s SANFL list before coming back to the WAFL this year, kicking 10 goals from his first six matches. With the mid-season draft to take place on Wednesday, May 29, both Mid West stars have been making their case to be in the big league.
