An outstanding run of success continued for Northampton on Thursday in the Batavia Bowling League women’s pennants, as the in-form side beat Geraldton Gold 4-0 (42-33).

The result extended the Rams’ lead on the table to 61/2 points over Wonthella Gold.

It took their winning streak to four games ahead of this week’s away fixture against Wonthella Gold — the only side to beat the defending champions this season.

The Rams’ dominance extends to the players’ table, where Northampton hold eight of the top 10 positions. Denison star Marie Eaton sits as the league’s No.1 ranked player with seven wins from eight matches.

She is followed by Northampton’s mighty Lyn Joyce and Anne Labruyere on six.

Dion Delamotte, Julie Clarkson, Karen Drage, Kaye Burton, Pauline Forrester and Eva Watson all have five wins.

Last season’s runners up, Denison made inroads towards a possible top-two finish with a commanding 4-0 (56-25) away victory over Wonthella Gold, reversing a first-round home loss.

With four of the remaining six games at home, the Seagulls look well positioned to challenge Wonthella Gold for second position and the double chance.

Geraldton Blue claimed all points against Wonthella Maroon in a confidence-building 58-27 home win. The Blues have struggled this season but remain in the fight for finals action.

The win lifted them off the bottom of the table to within six points of fourth.

In highlights from the round, Forrester, Watson, Burton and Drage extended their winning run to four games, although Norma Follington pushed them to within two shots (19-17).

Geraldton Blue won both rinks for the first time this season.

This week rates highly, with all matches holding significance as the second of three rounds draws to a close.

Wonthella Gold host Northampton in the match of the round.

Denison will start hot favourites at home against a rejuvenated Geraldton Blue.

In the last game at Geraldton, the Golds host Wonthella Maroon with both looking to bounce back from defeats last week.
