St Mary’s School Northampton on Thursday afternoon informed families that a parent of a student had tested positive to COVID-19, with the family and close contacts now in isolation.

It’s the first COVID case since the early days of the pandemic in Northampton.

In a statement posted to the school’s Facebook page, principal Ben Will said students have since returned negative COVID tests and classes would run as normal.

“The school is open as usual with high case load restrictions in place,” he said.

“As principal, the welfare and safety of my students and our community is paramount. I will always endeavour to keep our community updated as required and continue with our core business of teaching and learning.

“The privacy, respect and dignity of this family is my main concern. I ask that you respect this.”
