Olympian and retired NBL champion Damian Martin, pictured, is among a skilled line-up of special guests who will share their insights and personal experiences on building a “winning” culture in sporting clubs with Mid West organisations in Geraldton next week.

The annual Mid West Sports Forum is back after a year off next Friday, with local sporting committee members, development officers, administrators, coaches and anyone involved in the sector in both volunteer or paid capacities invited to attend the free event.

The Mid West Sports Federation initiative aims to support the role of volunteers in the region’s sporting groups and provide insight and opportunity for discussion around creating a positive club culture, leading teams, attracting and retaining volunteers, securing funding and sponsorship, marketing and media.

But the benefit won’t end there, with organisers from Mid West Sports Federation saying after presentations they will use feedback from attendees to plan their future offerings and workshops.

After last year’s forum was cancelled because of COVID-19 restrictions, the 2021 event was postponed from April until next week because of disruption by ex-tropical cyclone Seroja.
