Olympic FC get up over Abrolhos in battle of first vs second while Chapman Athletic trump Marconi
Olympic FC have earnt their spot at the top of the table after a round three win on Saturday in the Mid West Soccer Association.
Prior to round three, both Olympic and Abrolhos FC had two wins and were facing off for the top spot on the ladder.
Olympic got up 1-0 in a tight contest, with Finn Costello scoring the lone goal.
In the other men’s league game, Geraldton Rovers took down Chapman Athletic 3-1.
Connor Lumsden, Wesley Fleiser and Owain Harrison all hit the scoreboard for Rovers, while James Tindal picked up Athletic’s goal.
In the women’s league games on Monday, five goals from Tyler Price helped Chapman Athletic crush Marconi in a 12-0 thumping.
Price was supported by Ebony Wheatland and Laura Patel, who each scored three goals.
The other match saw Abrolhos take down Olympic 7-0. Amy Langman scored a hat-trick in the victory, along with two goals from Ava Gould and one each from Paige Carslake and Emelie Allen.
La Fiamma didn’t get a chance to extend a 77-game winning streak in the season as Geraldton Rovers forfeited the match.
Men’s reserves saw La Fiamma get up 2-1 over Abrolhos and the clash between Rovers and Athletic ended in a 0-0 draw.
Round four for the men’s league has Rovers taking on Olympic, while Athletic face Abrolhos on Saturday.
The women’s fixtures has the top two sides in La Fiamma and Abrolhos going head-to-head, while Marconi face Olympic and Athletic take on Rovers.
