Fancy your work featuring on a massive public canvas — 11m by 3m to be exact?

Well this opportunity might just inspire you. The City of Greater Geraldton is on the hunt for a talented artist with a passion for history and culture to create a massive mural in Mullewa’s Callaghan Park.

Mayor Shane Van Styn said he was excited to see what artists came up with to highlight the unique culture of Mullewa.

“There are so many fascinating elements that artists can draw inspiration from including Mullewa’s heritage, importance as an agricultural centre and fame for producing the world’s most stunning and diverse wildflowers,” he said.

“The artist who is awarded the job will not only be contributing to beautifying Callaghan Park but also enhancing the area as a whole.”

The new project comes under the City’s Public Art Strategy 2020-2025, which aims to consolidate, maintain and nurture visual art assets.

Artists who want to enter must have the artwork completed and fully installed by June 1.

To enter, send an expression of interest to council@cgg.wa.gov.au with the subject, “EOI - Mullewa Entrance Mural” by March 23.

The full artist brief can be downloaded at artgallery.cgg.wa.gov.au/news/expression-of-interest-mullewa-entrance-mural/14281 or by calling the art gallery on 9956 6750 or the Mullewa council office on 9956 6643.
