Out and about: City of Greater Geraldton releases its 2022 winter school holiday program

If parents out there are worried about how the keep their kids busy — and warm — this winter break, they have a one-stop guide in the City of Greater Geraldton’s latest school holiday program. Activities to get the blood pumping include an inflatable obstacle course as well as popular soccer, wheelchair basketball and skate clinics for beginners. For the kids who would prefer to stay indoors, there are plenty of options available including Dungeons and Dragons, low tox potion parties, weaving workshops at Geraldton Regional Art Gallery, e-games, arts and craft workshops, indoor sports, song anthem creations and excursions to Mullewa Youth Centre and Spalding Park Golf Club. Other workshops range in subject from learning how to be a digital superstar to how to build an insect hotel. In the Wave to the Future event, participants can record their handprint for inclusion in a time capsule. City Mayor Shane Van Styn said a mountain of activities were on offer, providing “something for everyone”. “Getting the kids out and about when it’s a bit cool outside can sometimes be tricky, but this program is sure to get them fired up,” he said. “Grab a printout for a list of City-hosted events or head to our website to see the full range of activities on offer.” In addition, there is an array of creepy crawly events at Museum of Geraldton, crafts galore at Scrapbook House plus new faces to the program such as Rhythm and Rhymes with Regional Sounds.
