Geraldton Hospital staff look after sick people better than any other facility in regional Australia, according to the Australian Patients Association.

The association last night named the hospital the country’s most outstanding in regional Australia for the second year in a row.

It described hospital staff as “consistently demonstrating a steadfast commitment to listening to patients and implementing strategies to ensure patient centred care”.

WA Country Health Service boss Jeff Calver said while the hospital had been under pressure due to limited bed numbers, staff had been dedicated to providing safe, high quality care.

“It goes without saying I am exceptionally proud of the entire team at Geraldton Health Campus,” he said.

“Facing some tough circumstances – particularly around bed pressure – they’ve proved they are responsive and agile in the way they deliver health services.”

Geraldton Hospital largely uses digital patient opinion to gather feedback from patients about their experiences.

Since the inception of the digital patient feedback program in 2015, Mid West hospitals and health centres have received 349 responses.
