Peter Fiorenza returns to Radio MAMA airwaves this weekend with Sport Shed Saturday and Fiorenza on Sunday

A familiar face — and voice — returns to local airwaves this weekend. Peter Fiorenza has presented on community station Radio MAMA for the past 12 years, gaining a loyal audience for his weekend double — his Saturday sports show Sport Shed Saturday and Sunday magazine-style program Fiorenza on Sunday — as well as broadcasting GNFL matches. “Sport Shed was a bit of a gamble we took back in 2011,” Fiorenza said. “I came to Barry Anderson, who was station manager at the time, and he was exited at giving it a shot. “Today, I believe it is a local hub for sport.” Sport Shed Saturday is a live three-hour program, which sees Fiorenza and a panel of local experts cover a variety of sports from water polo to horse racing to AFL — a blend of local, national and international sports. “We cover and comment on everything, all sport from a local perspective,” he said. Several years ago, Fiorenza proposed to strengthen his on-air involvement and began hosting Fiorenza on Sunday. With co-hosts, Nicola Dufour and Grant Woodhams, the show reflects what is happening in the local community, providing a blend of information, fun and banter packaged with some good music. “I reckon I have the best Sunday mornings — it’s great fun,” he said.
