Police have praised the actions of a pilot who landed his plane after an engine failed soon after take-off from Meekatharra today.

Acting Sergeant Percy McDonald of Meekatharra Police Station said the Skippers flight, carrying about 50 passengers, landed safely at Meekatharra Airport about 10am.

“The pilot’s skill and professionalism shone through,” he said.

“He did a good job in landing the aircraft.”

A St John Ambulance spokesperson said paramedics responded to the incident but were stood down after the plane landed without incident.
