The Geraldton Croquet Club held its annual presentation day with players recognised for their outstanding efforts throughout the season. Paul Christmass capped off a stellar season by being awarded the A-grade singles champion, Open knockout singles champion and the Anne Bunter handicap doubles along with playing partner Sheryl Chant. It comes after winning the WA champion of champions club event back in August and the Geraldton club championship in June. Glenys Ryan was awarded the B-grade honours and was the winner of the prestigious Gratte Cup. The cup is an annual non-handicap event where a pool of low-handicap players are paired with progressive partners of higher handicap. It is named after Ethel Gratte who donated the cup back in her playing days many years ago. Peter Clift was the winning captain of the winter pennants, a three-week competition, with his Red team of Doug Lee, Steve Robb and Margaret Jackson. He was also the winner of the Allan Marsh golf croquet singles competition after winning five out of six games. Winners of the autumn pennant, team black, consisting of playing reserve-Margaret Jackson, Charley MacSween-Captain/Centre, Vanessa Giltrow and Colin Murphy were also acknowledged. Bob Imray took out the T Hansen and the C-grade singles competition and had doubles success in the golf croquet 12+ with partner Kay Chynoweth. Doug Lee took out the D grade singles division with six wins out of seven. There were joint winners for the novice award with Mary Van De Wyngaard and Steve Robb sharing the spoils.
