Police, fire services attend after truck knocks over power pole in Geraldton

North West Coastal Highway was closed for several hours last night after a truck crashed into a power pole in Wonthella. Police and fire crews attended the scene of the crash on Monday evening after the truck knocked over the power pole. Mid West Traffic Sergeant Drue Pardoe said on Tuesday morning police were still investigating the accident. “A heavy vehicle which requires a permit and (was) under escort was going through North West Coastal Highway,” he said. “The load hit a power pole and knocked it down.” A Department of Fire and Emergency Services spokesperson confirmed local fire crews were called to the scene just after 6pm and were there for about 40 minutes. No other emergency services were reported as attending the scene. Police reopened the stretch of the highway, between Johnson St and Phelps St, just before 9pm. Western Power have been contacted for comment.
