Police have released the name of a cyclist who died on the Brand Highway near Geraldton yesterday.

He was Frank Anthony Fiocco, 51, of Dianella.

Police are still investigating the circumstances which led to Mr Fiocco’s death.

Midwest Gascoyne District Superintendent Mike Bell yesterday said police were treating it as a possible hit-and-run involving a heavy vehicle.

“That may change if other information comes to light, but nobody has come forth at this stage,” he said.

Mr Fiocco was found with serious injuries near Verita Road, south of Wandina, about 5.45am.

St John Ambulance officers treated him but he died at the scene.

Officers from the Major Crash unit are investigating.

Anyone who saw the incident, or a damaged vehicle heading south, is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or make a report online.
