Extra police resources from Perth – including police motorcycles and cars – have been brought to Geraldton as part of a major road blitz this weekend.

Geraldton Police Station operations manager Sergeant Drue Pardoe said police would target unlawful driver behaviour on all major roads in and out of Geraldton.

Outside of Geraldton, the scope of the operation will include Indian Ocean Drive, Brand Highway, Midlands Road and other major routes to Perth, Mullewa, Kalbarri and Northampton.

“They will be using Geraldton as a hub and doing traffic enforcement to neighbouring towns,” Sgt Pardoe said.

Extra police arrived in Geraldton yesterday.

Sgt Pardoe said the operation happened a few times a year in all major regional centres.
