Police search for prospectors missing in WA’s Mid West

UPDATE, Oct 2: Both prospectors have been found safe and well, according to WA Police.

Police are trying to locate two men from Geraldton and Meekatharra who are believed to have gone missing while prospecting in the Sandstone area.

Raymond Small, 71, of Meekatharra, and Alan King, 60, of Geraldton, were due to meet with fellow prospectors on Friday but never showed up.

Police said the pair had travelled from Meekatharra to prospect around the Gidgee mine, about 80km north of Sandstone.

Mr Small was driving a white 1990 Toyota Landcruiser Troop Carrier with WA registration 1BWJ077.

He was also towing a trailer, WA registration 1THR788, with a quad bike on it.

Mr King was driving a white 2016 Isuzu D-MAX ute with a distinctive aluminium checker plate canopy and WA registration 1GRV849.

He is also believed to have been towing a trailer, WA registration 1TTH968, with a quad bike on it.

Anyone who has seen the men or their vehicles since 24 September, or has any information about their whereabouts is urged to call police immediately on 131 444.
