It has been a tragic long weekend for road fatalities in WA, with two of the five deaths recorded occurring in the Mid West.

A female driver and male passenger, both in their 80s, died when their vehicle and another collided about 7.30pm in Port Denison on Friday. Both died at the scene from sustained injuries.

A 23-year-old male driving a Holden Commodore was also involved in the crash, but suffered only minor injuries.

All drivers were heading north on Port Leander Drive, near Ridley Street, where the fatal accident took place.

Another two fatalities occurred in the South West over the weekend, with a 47-year-old male driver and a 66-year-old male driver both dying from injuries in separate incidents.

A man died in hospital on Sunday after a hit-and-run early on Saturday in Rockingham.

Major Crash investigators are examining the scene and are appealing for any witnesses to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or report the information online at crimestopperswa.com.au.
