Power cut to thousands of properties in Geraldton and Mid West

Geraldton Guardian

An unplanned power outage cut electricity to thousands of properties in Geraldton and surrounding areas this morning.

About 3000 properties in Geraldton and parts of Beachlands, Beresford, Mahomets Flats, Tarcoola Beach, Mount Tarcoola, and Wandina were without power from 6am.

By 9.30am power had been restored to about half of those properties and by noon power was restored to most remaining properties, with the exception of about 150 in Mahoments Flats.

Another 3000 properties in a wider area outside of Geraldton, from Rudds Gully, Cape Burney and Greenough, to West Casuarina, Dongara, Port Denison and Mount Adams were also without power before 9.30am.

The spokesperson said the outage was caused by a feeder trip.

The cause of the trip was unknown.
