Premier Mark McGowan and ministers to visit Geraldton for two-day Community Cabinet next week

Geraldton will be the political capital of WA for two days next week as Premier Mark McGowan and his ministers bring a Community Cabinet to the Mid West. Locals will have a chance to speak directly to the Premier and ministers about issues that matter most to them, with the Community Cabinet kicking off on Sunday. This is the first time the McGowan Government, which has been in power since 2017, has held a Community Cabinet in Geraldton. A Town Hall meeting will be held on Sunday and a Cabinet meeting on Monday. A lunch event with community leaders and a series of meetings between ministers and community organisations are also planned for Monday. The Premier is also expected to make several announcements during the two days. Geraldton MLA Lara Dalton said she was excited for Cabinet to visit Geraldton to see all the city has to offer and hear from the people on the ground. “Geraldton is a thriving regional centre bursting with opportunities and potential,” she said. “I’m looking forward to Cabinet seeing first-hand the positive outcomes of our investment and hearing from locals about how we can continue to support Geraldton. “This major event highlights our commitment to the region and I’m proud to be part of Mark McGowan’s team which is delivering for the Mid West.” City of Greater Geraldton mayor Shane Van Styn said it was great the State Government continued to travel into the regions and meet stakeholders in the community. “The city appreciates the opportunity to present a list of priorities in Geraldton, most of which have already have had funding allocated, such as the hospital, parks and the Abrolhos Islands development,” he said. Mr Van Styn said the Community Cabinet would be a great opportunity to ask where projects such as the Spalding renewal venture were at. “To follow up the delivery and expected timeline of these projects will be beneficial,” he said.
