Pretty perfect partying: Chapman Valley Football Club’s women’s team pony up to celebrate their premiership

In the sporting world, a unicorn is someone with a rare, undisputed talent — so does this memorable pub singalong qualify as the unicorn version of a winning post-grand final celebration?
Neigh-sayers be damned — it’s hard to argue that the women of Chapman Valley Football Club in Geraldton don’t know how to celebrate in style.
Silly Sunday and Mad Monday shenanigans usually throw up some hilarious and applause-worthy costumes, but this en masse fancy dress-up might just take the crown.
The team known as the Royals ditched their blue and black jumpers, and instead opted for pink unicorn costumes. They were filmed singing and dancing along to Chappell Roan’s smash hit, Pink Pony Club, at the Foreshore Hangout Lounge, letting their manes down and cutting loose after capping off a perfect undefeated season by winning their second ever flag.
One of the “pink unicorns” had the premiership flag draped around them, like a superhero’s cape.
“Congratulations to the Chapman Valley Football Club Ladies — the Pink Pony Club — on becoming championship winners!” the Foreshore Hangout posted to Facebook on Sunday, along with a video clip.
The team had the best reason to celebrate after winning the Great Northern Women’s Football League premiership on Saturday, downing Towns by 18 points, 5.8 (38) to 3.2 (20).

The fact they reversed last year’s grand final heartbreak — when they lost to Towns — made the victory and subsequent celebrations all the more sweeter.
While the nickname for Chapman Valley Football Club is the Royals, for one night, they were indeed, the Pink Pony Club — Premiers.
