Public invited to check out annual Flotsam and Jetsam exhibition at Geraldton's Latitude Jewellers from May 1

More than 100 entries in the annual Flotsam and Jetsam competition will be displayed at Latitude Jewellers from May 1. Participants in the prestigious art event, which promotes sustainability and environmental awareness, are tasked with turning trash into treasure, using materials — flotsam and jetsam debris — collected from the Abrolhos Islands during the Clean Up Australia Day weekend in March and brought back to the mainland. Whether it’s plastics, ropes, old pots, pot floats, wood and glass — it’s incredible what this debris can be turned into within a matter of weeks. The entries will be displayed in the showroom of Latitude Jewellers on Marine Terrace from May 1 to 28. People can vote for their favourite piece. Category winners will be announced at the exhibition’s opening night on Saturday, April 30, while the People’s Choice Award winner will be revealed on May 27.
