A free community forum about WA’s new revenge porn laws will be held this afternoon in Geraldton.

The new law, which came into effect on April 15, makes it a criminal offence to distribute intimate images without consent, punishable by a jail term of up to three years and fines of up to $18,000.

Different sentences will apply to juvenile offenders.

Acting Commissioner for Victims of Crime Kati Kraszlan will discuss the new law during the community forum at the Geraldton Multipurpose Centre.

The presentation will start at 4pm.
