Pumas pounce in Geraldton netball preliminary final while Lightning take one-point win

There were some tense games on display in the Geraldton Netball Association’s preliminary finals, with Pumas going through to the grand final as Hannah Trusso turned on the goals, while Lightning won an epic battle by one point.

A great display of shooting by Trusso on Friday took Pumas through to next week’s decider against Aztecs in the senior one division. Pumas beat Kazuals 61-44 to progress.

In senior four, Lightning beat Aztecs, 42-23.

On Tuesday, Lightning beat Pumas by the narrowest of possible margins in senior two, winning 55-54.

Both teams put on a great display to take the game into overtime with the scores drawn, before Lightning grabbed the win with under two seconds to go.

Pumas Blue beat Pumas Green 50-36 in reserves.

Aztecs White beat Panthers 50-27 in senior three.

In senior five, Pumas Green beat Lightning 35-21 as Pumas goal shooter Renee Larson lit up the scoreboard.

Pumas Green beat Falcons 51-40 in junior one on Friday, while Aztecs beat Lightning 45-33 in junior three.

Kazuals beat Aztecs White 34-11 in junior five, and Breezes beat Aztecs 32-29 in junior seven.

On Tuesday, Falcons beat Kazuals Purple 30-20 in junior two, Panthers beat Lightning 35-34 in junior four, Kazuals beat Panthers 48-30 in junior six, and Aztecs Red beat Pumas Green 25-20 in junior eight.
