Pumas take to court in Geraldton under-18 basketball hoping to stay top in boys’ & girls’ division one comps
First take on third in Geraldton girls’ top-division basketball tonight as Pumas play Chapman Valley Maroon.
Pumas are two points ahead of second-placed Trades in the girls’ under-18 division, with just another two points back to fourth-placed Olympians.
Mikenna Schulz is the top scorer for Pumas with 36 points so far this season, averaging nine points a game.
Holly Davey has 31 points, Sienna Forsyth has 27 points, and Lailahni Tarapu has 22 points.
Grace Yokwe has 22 points so far this season for Trades, while Chanelle Wennekes has 20 points and Nicole McAuley has 18 points.
Pumas are also top by two points in the boys’ under-18s.
They take on fifth-placed Stateside tonight, while second-placed Chapman Valley play third-placed Dongara. Olympians, in fourth place, have a bye.
The gap between top and bottom is bigger in the boys’ division, with Pumas 10 points clear.
Second and third place are both on eight points, with Valley only ahead on percentage.
Geraldton Buccaneers players Harry Evans and Tom Dobson lead the scoring charts for Pumas, with 70 and 65 points.
Toby Gerreyn has 53 points and Jacques Laurent has 48 points.
For the Valley, Llewyn Valli has scored a massive 84 points, while Quinton Narkle has 40 points.
Radley Patten has 24 points.
In senior action this week, Tom Mackay and Jake Baker each scored 18 points as Trades beat Chapman Valley 88-58 in men’s division one on Tuesday night.
Quinton Narkle scored 16 points and Dylan Myers scored 15 points, but it wasn’t enough.
Georgia Farley scored 17 points for Pumas on Monday night as they beat Chapman Valley 52-36.
Cassidy Powell scored eight points for the Valley.
In the other game, Kayley King scored 20 points for Trades and Hannah Trusso got 10 points as they beat Stateside 50-36.
Abbie MacDonald was Stateside’s top scorer, with 13 points.
