RAC Rescue chopper called after woman trapped in car following rollover on Indian Ocean Drive near Jurien Bay

Emergency services have freed a seriously injured woman in her 20s who was trapped in her car after an horrific rollover on the notorious stretch of Indian Ocean Drive on Friday morning. The car rolled onto its roof on Indian Ocean Drive, near the intersection of Marine Drive, about 10km south of Jurien Bay just after 8am on Friday, trapping the woman inside. A Department of Fire and Emergency Services spokesperson said three crews from Jurien Bay and Cervantes volunteer fire and rescue services were sent to the scene. The woman was freed by 8.44am and was taken to Jurien Bay Health Centre by St John WA crews. WA Police confirmed that an RAC Rescue helicopter had been sent to the area and it was later confirmed the chopper would take the injured woman to Royal Perth Hospital. The helicopter was expected to land at RPH about 12.40pm. A St John WA spokesperson said the woman in her 20s had multiple injuries but none were believed to be life threatening. The spokesperson said that she could potentially be flown to Royal Perth Hospital. Authorities have not confirmed the woman’s age or how the car rollover happened.
