Racing fans treated to awesome spectacle as Geraldton Speedway season starts

Geraldton Speedway began its season on Saturday night as pro modifieds lit up the track with some blistering times. After the speed car event fell through the pro modifieds were parachuted in to race the third round of their series and did not disappoint. Matt Bosveld edged out Brad Ludlow but just under half a second after a thrilling 20 laps. Despite both drivers starting from the second row they quickly made their way to the front running in one and two by lap five. Ludlow was the early leader but on the ninth lap, Bosveld made his move taking the high line around the outside and sweeping into the lead of the race. The pair continued to spar with each other over the second half of the race, but Ludlow could never find a way back into the lead with Bosveld leading an expert defence. Despite Ludlow probably having a slightly faster car recording both a better lap time and top speed Bosvled held on to win by 0.424 of a second and close the gap to Ludlow at the top of the pro modified standings to just one point after three rounds. There was just as much action in the local divisions with productions, supermods with senior and junior F125s in action. David Guy smashed the supermods division by more than five seconds in a small field that saw just three racers line up at the start. It was a non-contest in the senior F125s as Chris Berry won by more than 11 seconds with Julialle Beard the only other driver to finish on the lead lap at the completion of the 15. Ashley Baker won in the production class bolting from the back of the field into first on lap one where she stayed for the remainder of the race to win by more than five seconds. There was a scary incident in the junior top and new stars sedans when Chloe Munro who was running in fifth flipped her car and crashed out of the race but came away unscathed with Zak Turner taking the twin over Chayse Jackson. James Berry took the win in the junior F125s beating Hannah Berry by 9.2 seconds.
