Friday marked the 350th game of veteran B52’s player Mick Rock as he celebrated in style as the team continued its undefeated start to the season.

The men’s side beat Rats 7-5, in an evenly matched game, with Rats nearly pulling it back in the final quarter.

Kurt Tunbridge and Corey Smith had two goals each for the B52’s and were instrumental in setting up the other goals.

Darcy Wiffen did his best to keep the Rats in the match, with a hat-trick and setting up his teammates.

However, the B52’s superior speed and fitness got them over the line at the final siren.

Association spokesperson Julia Gourley was full of praise for ‘Rocky’ and for his fellow members.

“Rocky is a fast player that can fit into any scenario with a quick and fast shot and also assists in coaching our Flippa Ball members with his own children playing in Dolphin and Flippa Ball.

“This is what keeps our sport alive with senior players sharing and investing their knowledge and experience back into the sport.”

In the final men’s A grade match, Demons took on the Country Week side, winning comfortably, 8-4.

Ben Vittino and Zacc Cross both had doubles for the Demons, with Jack Cocking impressive in the middle of the pool and grabbing a goal of his own.

B52’s women’s A grade side continued their dominant start to the season with a superb display of skill and fitness on Saturday at the Aquarena.

Abbey Benham was on fire for the B52’s, nailing three well-placed goals, while Evie Prout also got three and Tenielle Hawke added another two to her impressive season haul as they smashed the Rats 16-2.

Unfortunately, Serpents A Grade women forfeited again, giving the 5-0 victory to Demons.

The men’s and women’s A Grade B52’s sides sit comfortably on top of their leagues, with both sides now having a widening gap between themselves and second place.

The teams remain unbeaten, with Tenielle Hawke and Corey Smith both sitting pretty on top of their respective goal-scorer tallies.

B-grade games kicked off with B52’s Relics versus Demons, with the Demons edging out the Relics 6-5 in an exciting match.

B52’s carried on the impressive season form with a dominant 10-2 thumping over Rats as Mathew Chamberlain and Leo Prout both registered hat-tricks.

In Women’s B Grade, Rats edged out Demons 6-4 and B52’s shut out Serpents 5-0 thanks to three goals from Hailee Horsman.

In C-grade games, B52’s White gave a resounding performance against a beleaguered Demons side, winning 11-1 as B52’s Blue also continued the team’s dominance with a 9-1 victory over Rats.

Rats Orange had a great game against Serpents, winning 8-1 as B52’s took down Rats Black 5-2 and Demons Black added to Demons Gold’s woeful stat to the season, winning convincingly 13-5.

Tyde Crickmay was on fire for Demons Black, with six goals.
