Towering at nearly 183cm and at just 16 years old, Erika Yokwe, stepped on to the senior one netball court for Pumas for the first time last week — and fitted in to the game and her role like a hand in a glove.

The Year 10 Nagle Catholic College student from Geraldton, who usually plays in the reserves division, slotted in seamlessly, not much seeming to phase her as she managed to net goal after goal.

With a cool, calm and collected demeanour, Erika said she was nervous to get the call-up.

“I was really nervous at the start, but I got more confident as the game went on,” she said.

Despite a stellar effort from the youngster, it wasn’t enough to get Pumas over the line, going down to Kazuals, 53-46.
