The Rotary Club of Geraldton-Greenough celebrated its 35th anniversary on Wednesday.

Club president Tom Maina praised the efforts of the members through the years and their achievements.

About 50 members, spouses, friends and representatives from the other two Geraldton Rotary clubs attended the event at Cutler and Smith, which included the traditional cutting of the cake.

On hand to share early recollections were charter members Barry Schleicher and Barry Alexander, the latter of whom is still fully involved in the club’s fundraising efforts.

Other members spoke of their time with clubs overseas and why they joined.

Mr Maina hoped younger people would become more involved in Rotary as its needs and objectives today were just as important as 35 years ago.
