Routine car stop in Wandina, Geraldton, leads to car seizure and drug charge

A man had his car seized and is facing drug and unlicensed driving charges after a routine car stop in Wandina yesterday afternoon.

Police said officers from Geraldton Response Team 3 were on patrol in Columbus Boulevard about 4.20pm when they spoke to the occupants of a blue Kia Rio.

After speaking to the occupants, police searched the car and allegedly found a quantity of methamphetamine.

The driver was also allegedly found to be driving without a licence.

A 37-year-old Kalbarri man has been charged with possessing a prohibited drug and having no authority to drive.

He will face Geraldton Magistrate’s Court at a later date.
