Salvation Army Christmas appeal: More than 70 bikers ride through Geraldton for toy run fundraiser

More than 75 tinsel wrapped motorcycles rode through town and donations came thick and fast at the annual Salvation Army toy run. Riders from the Geraldton Ulysses Club helped raise more than $2000 for the Salvation Army Christmas appeal on Saturday. Plenty of Santas and elves were out and about in the hope of winnng best dressed, but that was awarded to Nadine Rowe, 12 because of her big, bright personality. Paul Cook, his daughter Abbie, 13 and her friend Tara Javens, 13, won the best decorated bike, which was split between the elves for their hard work. Organiser Terry Brennan said Nadine Rowe didn’t only look the part but spread the spirit of Christmas with her enthusiasm and good cheer. He thanked Rigters IGA for supplying the vouchers, which helped to encourage people to dress up and bring the festive look to the motorcycle cavalcade. “Thanks very much to the Salvation Army volunteers and Dome who provided the sausage sizzle and drinks and the police for the parade escort,” he said.
