Security guard ‘assaulted at Geraldton shopping complex’

Police are investigating an alleged assault on a security guard in Geraldton yesterday.

The incident happened about 1.40pm at Northgate Shopping Centre, when a security guard allegedly caught someone, believed to be a man, shoplifting from a store.

Police said a physical altercation ensued in which the alleged offender pushed the guard and fled when authorities were called.

The security guard was not injured.

Police are gathering CCTV footage of the incident.
