Birdlife Australia is encouraging nature lovers to attend a shorebird identification session on a Geraldton beach this month.

Birdlife Australia Mid West secretary Alice Bishop said it was an opportunity to see birds that had hatched in the Arctic Circle.

“There’s a number of shorebirds currently at the beach fattening up for their migration to the northern hemisphere,” she said.

Excursions are planned for Separation Point and the Greenough River mouth.
