Siosifa Faiva, David Bryn Godfrey & Steven John Keller: Trio accused of 560kg Kalbarri cocaine haul in court

The Queensland trio who allegedly tried to import a whopping 560kg of cocaine into Kalbarri last month have made another court appearance. In a joint operation involving the Australian Federal Police, Australian Border Force, WA Police and the Department of Home Affairs, authorities located half a tonne of cocaine after raiding a home in the Mid West coastal town on Friday, August 11. The three accused — Siosifa Koloamatoagi Faiva, 33, David Bryn Godfrey, 49, and Steven John Keller, 29 — appeared in Perth Magistrates Court from custody on Friday. They all face a charge of possession of commercial quantities of unlawfully imported border-controlled drugs. Mr Godfrey and Mr Faiva also face a charge of importing a commercial quantity of a border-controlled drug. No pleas were entered and the trio were remanded in custody. Police have previously alleged the three men are key players in a transnational criminal syndicate that imported the illicit drugs into WA by sea. It’s further alleged the trio were responsible for purchasing a boat and collecting the cocaine, after a bulk carrier vessel dropped it into the ocean off the WA coast. During the search, authorities seized 560kg of cocaine wrapped in plastic, a boat, two vehicles and about $30,000 in cash from the Kalbarri home. The joint operation was launched after intelligence was passed to authorities about a suspicious vessel. All three men will reappear in Perth Magistrates Court on Friday, November 17 for legal advice.
