Snake bites woman in backyard

A woman was bitten by a snake today in a backyard at Yalgoo, about 215km east of Geraldton.

The woman, believed to be aged in her 30s, was initially treated at the Yalgoo medical clinic and is being taken by ambulance to Geraldton Hospital.

Police said the woman was in her backyard when she felt a sharp pain in her lower leg.

Police believe she was bitten by a small brown snake.
